Action Taken
Based on the results of an early response action (ERA) evaluation conducted in 2003, ADEQ determined that soil vapor extraction (SVE) was not a feasible remedy for the site. Due to a lack of funding, site activities were suspended from 2008 to 2012. In the spring of 2013, groundwater monitoring activities were resumed. Two additional wells were installed to complete characterization of the site.
Status
The final remedial investigation (RI) and remedial objective (RO) reports and the feasibility study (FS) work plan were completed in May 2015. The FS report was completed in July 2015 and the proposed remedial action plan (PRAP) recommended monitored natural attenuation (MNA) as the remedy for the site. In April 2016 and June 2017, ADEQ initiated enhanced reductive de-chlorination (ERD) injections to determine if ERD could be cost effectively implemented to accelerate MNA. In 2017 ADEQ finalized the Record of Decision (ROD) and completed an additional round of ERD injections. Additional rounds of ERD injections were completed and groundwater sampling was conducted in 2018 and 2019. Groundwater sampling results are currently being compared to determine viability of this option. If effective, this technology may be incorporated into the final MNA remedy for the site to facilitate accelerated site delisting.
