2024: After six months of operation, ozone sparge and soil vapor extraction (SVE) underwent rebound testing to determine current static conditions at the site. The Salt River Project (SRP) and ADEQ continued to work together to determine a path forward for the SRP well near the site.

2023: Ozone sparge and SVE systems continued at the site. Cycled operation of the SVE began to increase recovery of tetrachloroethene (PCE). ADEQ sampled the SRP well and shared results with SRP.

2022: Ozone sparge and SVE systems continued at the site. ADEQ and SRP worked together to get the SRP well at the site sampled. 

2021: In October, ADEQ published the Record of Decision (ROD) for the Site which selected continuation of the Early Response Action (ERA) ozone sparge and SVE systems. In December, SRP filed an appeal for judicial review of the ROD. 

2020: ADEQ released the Proposed Remedial Action Plan in March for public comment. ADEQ installed an expansion to the Ozone Sparge system as an ERA in July.

2018 – 2019: The Final Remedial Investigation (RI) Report was released in November 2018. The Feasibility Study (FS) work plan was also released at this time. The FS Report was released in October 2019.

2017: ADEQ conducted the RI by installing two boreholes and five additional groundwater wells in order to fully characterize the ground water plume. Also, the extent of contaminated soil-gas was determined.

2016: On June 24, the site was added to the WQARF Registry with an eligibility and evaluation score of 42 out of a possible 120.

2014: ADEQ collected soil and soil vapor samples from beneath the building located at the southwest corner of 7th Street and Missouri Avenue where Kino Drapery Cleaners formerly operated. Results indicated that a release of PCE had occurred to the subsurface from this location.

2013: ADEQ installed additional monitoring wells in the area of the former Kino Drapery Cleaners, previously located at 5340 North 7th Street. Groundwater monitoring results suggested there was a release of PCE at this location as well. A groundwater monitoring well was installed upgradient of the former Kino Drapery Cleaners and results from this well indicated no upgradient source of PCE.

2010: Based on the results of the soil vapor survey, ADEQ installed monitoring wells around the Fashion Cleaners facility located at 736 East Missouri Avenue. PCE has been detected above Aquifer Water Quality Standards (AWQS)  in the monitoring well immediately downgradient of Fashion Cleaners.

2008: ADEQ conducted a soil vapor survey in the area to try to determine the potential source of the PCE and trichloroethylene (TCE).

2000: In early 2000, PCE and TCE were detected in groundwater samples from several monitoring wells in the area of 7th Street and Missouri Avenue. PCE was also detected above AWQS in a nearby SRP irrigation well.
