PUBLIC NOTICE | Comment Period for Draft RI Reports for 24th Street and Grand Canal & 32nd Street and Indian School Road WQARF Sites

ADEQ has released draft remedial investigation (RI) reports for the 24th Street and Grand Canal and 32nd Street and Indian School Road Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF) sites in Maricopa County, Ariz., and is soliciting remedial objective (RO) proposals.

RI and RO Information

An RI is conducted to document the nature and extent of the contamination and the sources thereof; identify current and potential impacts to public health, welfare and the environment; identify current and reasonably foreseeable uses of land and waters of the state; and obtain and evaluate any other information necessary for identification and comparison of alternative remedial actions. 

Proposed ROs are solicited from the public and are the clean-up goals determined for a specific site. ROs consider the current and reasonably foreseeable future uses of land and waters of the state.

Site Information

The 24th Street and Grand Canal WQARF site consists of a plume approximately bounded by East Pinchot Avenue to the north, Oak Street to the south, 26th Street to the east and 16th Street to the west | Learn More >

The 32nd Street and Indian School Road WQARF site consists of a plume approximately bounded by Indian School Road to the north, Interstate 10 to the south, 32nd Street to the east, and 1st Street to the west | Learn More >

The contaminants of concern at the sites are tetrachloroethene (PCE), trichloroethene (TCE), cis- and trans-1,2-dichlorothene (DCE), and vinyl chloride.
