Sycamore Fire
Special Statement:
Smoke Map For 6/29/2026
Overview
The Sycamore Fire, 15-20 miles north of Globe, is currently estimated at 11,939 acres with 60% containment, Despite another round of strong winds and low humidity yesterday, the acreage increased only 70 acres with only relatively modest smoke production evident on satellite and little to no impact at the ground level sensors. It will be dry and windy again today but winds won't be quite as strong as yesterday.
Smoke Synopsis
Today, smoke from the Sycamore Fire is expected to disperse to the northeast again with impacts from this particular fire anticipated to be similar to yesterday. Thus, only light impacts are expected for Highway 60 north of Globe and even lighter impacts further downstream for the Fort Apache Reservation, Show Low and Pinetop-Lakeside.Tonight, anticipate ongoing smoke plume movement toward the northeast during the during the early evening before decreasing with only minor impacts.
On Monday, anticipate even less smoke impacts to Highway 60 north of Globe and the Fort Apache Reservation.
Given the dwindling of significant impacts, this will be the last smoke forecast for the Sycamore Fire.
Note: there are other new fires in southern Gila County that started Friday and/or Saturday such as the Steamboat Fire northwest of Hayden-Winkleman. Depending upon how active those fires are, they may produce smoke unrelated to the Sycamore fire.
