Overview

This is the last smoke forecast for the Pius Fire.

The Pius Fire is located approximately 25 miles to the northeast of Payson. It is currently estimated at around 2,018 acres. As of Thursday morning, no new hot spots are evident on satellite. A haze sits around the area though, due to smoke from regional wildfires to the north.

Smoke Synopsis

Looking ahead for the rest of this week and into the weekend, moisture moving into the area will moderate fire behavior and reduce smoke production. However, as the monsoon picks up again, erratic winds from thunderstorms could push smoke in any direction, including into areas that haven't seen smoke from the fire yet. Winslow could continue to see smoke overhead from wildfires in Utah.
