On Sept. 1, 2022, the US Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) published it's preliminary decision to approve Arizona's drinking water primacy program revision.

Arizona has adopted drinking water regulations that effectuate the federal Filter Backwash Recycling Rule, Ground Water Rule, and Radionuclides Rule, and EPA has determined that these regulations are no less stringent than the corresponding federal regulations.
