United States Department of Interior, National Park Service, Grand Canyon National Park (Grand Canyon National Park) applied for a renewal AZPDES permit for the proposed discharge of up to 0.15 million gallons per day (mgd) of treated domestic wastewater from the North Rim WWTP to the Transcept Canyon in Coconino County, Arizona. The WWTP is a federally owned treatment works that receives domestic wastewater from residential and commercial sources from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park, including the visitor center, lodging, restaurant, campground, laundry, and maintenance. Sludge is dried and transported by truck to an off-site storage lagoon at the South Rim biosolids disposal site.
