AZPDES Permit No. AZ0025861

ADEQ proposes to modify an AZPDES permit to discharge pollutants to Waters of the United States to the following applicant, subject to certain effluent limitations and special conditions:

Permittee

NXP USA, Inc.
100 N. Alma School Road
CH290
Chandler, Arizona 85224

Facility Information

NXP USA, Inc. applied for a modification to the AZPDES permit for approval of a mixing zone for arsenic, boron and fluoride. NXP USA, Inc. operates the 56th Street and Earll Drive WQARF Site Groundwater Treatment System, which discharges up to 0.72 million gallons per day of treated groundwater to the SRP Grand Canal, a Phoenix Area Canal, to all municipal water treatment plants in the Middle Gila River Basin in Township 1 N, Range 3 E, Section 1, Maricopa County, Arizona. The treatment system includes two extraction wells and an underground pipeline system that conveys groundwater contaminated with trichloroethylene (TCE) to an above-ground groundwater treatment plant. The extraction well water is conveyed through particulate filters for screening and sediment removal and then combined in a pipeline and conveyed for treatment of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by Granular Activated Carbon (GAC). In-stream monitoring with limitations for boron within a mixing zone, located 1,400 feet downstream of the discharge point, is also required.
