56th Street and Earll Drive | Site Overview

Registry placement date: June 2, 2004

Score: 40

County: Maricopa

Location: Phoenix, bounded by Earll Drive to the north, Roosevelt Street to the south, 56th Street to the east and 26th Street to the west

Contaminant of concern: Trichloroethene (TCE) and tetracholoroethene (PCE)

Action taken: ADEQ is working cooperatively with a party potentially responsible for the contamination to remediate the site. A pump and treat groundwater system was constructed and started operation in November 2013 as part of an early response action (ERA).

Status: ADEQ and NXP (formerly Freescale Semiconductor) finalized an agreement for NXP to continue to operate and maintain the groundwater pump-and-treat system as the ERA to address the TCE and PCE in the groundwater. Groundwater is extracted and treated then discharged into the Grand Canal system for non-potable beneficial reuse as irrigation water under an agreement with Salt River Project. ADEQ and Freescale Semiconductor have finalized a Consent Order for Freescale Semiconductor to perform the remedial investigation and feasibility study for the site. The site documents listed below are all available to view at the site repository page >

  • Final Remedial Investigation Report
  • Final Remedial Objectives Report
  • Feasibility Study Work Plan

The Feasibility Study will be available approximately June 2020.
