PUBLIC NOTICE | EXTENDED COMMENT PERIOD | Lake Havasu Avenue and Holly Avenue WQARF Site Draft Remedial Investigation Report and Solicitation of Remedial Objectives

ADEQ is extending the public comment period for the draft Remedial Investigation report for the Lake Havasu Avenue and Holly Avenue Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF) site in Lake Havasu City for an additional 30 days until May 7, 2020 [Arizona Administrative Code R18-16-404 (C)(1)(b)]. A Remedial Investigation is conducted to document the nature and extent of the contamination and the sources thereof; identify current and potential impacts to public health, welfare, and the environment; identify current and reasonably foreseeable uses of land and waters of the state; and obtain and evaluate any other information necessary for identification and comparison of alternative remedial actions.

Site Information

The Lake Havasu Avenue and Holly Avenue WQARF site consists of soil contamination and groundwater plumes located in Lake Havasu City. The plumes are bounded approximately by Centers Avenue to the north, by Holly Avenue to the south, by San Juan Drive to the east, and by London Bridge Avenue to the west.

Contaminants of concern at the site are tetrachloroethene (PCE), trichloroethene (TCE), and their degradation products, as well as benzene, nitrate, chromium, 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) and 1,1- dichloroethene (1,1-DCE).
