PM10 (particulate matter 10 microns or less in diameter; 1987 standard)

Summary:

The concentration of PM10 in the ambient air in Rillito is frequently above the federal limit established in the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is developing a nonattainment State Implementation Plan (SIP) to determine the control measures that are feasible and will help the area attain the NAAQS.

The Clean Air Act requires that ADEQ include:

  • An updated emissions inventory,
  • A modeled attainment demonstration, and
  • Rules for PM10 controls.

ADEQ will work with permitted facilities, local government agencies, and community stakeholders in a collaborative effort to develop the SIP.
