Notice: Pursuant to the Clean Water Act and in accordance with Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R18-9-A907, the Director of ADEQ proposes to issue an Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) Permit to discharge pollutants to Waters of the United States to the following applicant, subject to certain effluent limitations and special conditions:

USDI National Park Service applied for a AZPDES permit renewal for the proposed discharge of up to 0.15 million gallons per day (mgd) of treated domestic wastewater from the North Rim WWTP to Transept Canyon in the Colorado-Grand Canyon River Basin in Township 33N, Range 3E, Section 34W, in Coconino County, Ariz. The facility is a federally owned treatment works that receives domestic wastewater from the visitor center, restaurant, campground and laundry sources at the Grand Canyon National Park. Sludge is dried and transported by truck to an off-site storage lagoon at the South Rim biosolids disposal site.
