Site Summary:
The Former Capitol Castings Facility has been managed under the oversight of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP) since 2002. Offsite groundwater impacts are present, and stakeholders with downgradient receptors have been actively involved in the remedy selection and implementation process to address any potential impacts or concerns.
The site has historically been monitored as two separate VRP areas:
- The 1,1-DCE plume follows WQARF Rule and has a 2016 Record of Decision for monitoring | View/Download Record of Decision > | View/Download Periodic Site Review Report >
- The formerly monitored petroleum plume underwent a public notice period for a risk-based closure for 45 days, from May 16 through July 1, 2019. A No Further Action determination for the LUST-affected groundwater was issued on Aug. 20, 2019
