New Aquifer Protection Permit | AEPCO Mohave Energy Park

On Aug. 26, 2026, the comment period begins for the preliminary decision to issue an Individual Aquifer Protection Permit to Arizona Electric Power Cooperative (AEPCO) for a new peaking natural gas-fired electric generating facility located in Mohave Valley, Arizona. The comment period ends Sept. 24, 2026.

The requirements in this permit will allow the permittee to comply with the two key requirements of the Aquifer Protection Program: 1) meet Aquifer Water Quality Standards at the Point of Compliance; and 2) demonstrate Best Available Demonstrated Control Technology.
