Contaminants of Concern (COCs)

The contaminants of concern (COCs) include munitions and explosives of concern and associated munitions constituents. Contaminants of concern at the site may change as new data become available.

Munitions | Do not approach, pick up, touch, or move suspected ordnance, munitions, or explosives debris as serious harm could result.

Action Taken

Fort Tuthill was utilized for artillery training of .30 and .50 caliber water-cooled machine guns, Browning Automatic Rifles, hand grenades, and bazooka rounds from 1928 to 1955.

  • Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study completed in 2021
  • Proposed Plan and Public Comment Period completed in 2022
  • Record of Decision completed in 2023

Status

The Record of Decision was accepted by ADEQ in July 2023. The ARNG has not yet allocated the necessary funds to commence the Remedial Design and Remedial Action.

This site is subject to programmatic five-year reviews, with the first five-year review scheduled for 2028.
