Pocket Fire

Special Statement:

Smoke Map For 6/29/2026

smoke_map

Overview

The Pocket Fire, located 7 miles north of Sedona, is currently estimated at 11,192 acres, and 0% containment. Over the past couple days, the fire has been very active, sending a thick plume of smoke to the northeast to the Four Corners area, and beyond. This morning, smoke continues to move off to the northeast. Today, dry and windy conditions will be favorable for more fire growth.

Smoke Synopsis

Today, smoke from the Pocket Fire will disperse to the northeast again, likely reaching the the Four Corners area and into other states, given the strength of the transport winds. Heavy smoke impacts are expected to areas just downwind of the fire, including Flagstaff and Doney Park. Areas further downwind, namely on the reservations, could experience light to moderate impacts as smoke mixes to the ground. That includes locations such as Chinle and Kayenta.

Overnight, if the fire remains active, smoke will continue to move to the northeast. However, if/when drainage flow develops, smoke will drain southwards into the canyons, including Dry Creek and Oak Creek Canyon. Sedona could then eventually see light to moderate smoke impacts.

Tomorrow, smoke is expected to disperse to the northeast again, similar today and previous days. How much smoke occurs and how far it reaches downwind will depend on fire activity.
