Why do I need a Concrete Batch Plant General Permit?
The Concrete Batch Plant General Permit allows facilities to produce concrete under air quality rules. This permit covers the following types of equipment: pugmills, silos, boilers, internal combustion engines, baghouses, storage bins, storage piles, wash plants, and direct-fired fuel-burning equipment (water heater). The Concrete Batch Plant General Permit limits the throughput to either 2,000 cubic yards per day or 500 cubic yards per day. The daily throughput limitation is dependent on if the plant is truck mix or central mix, and if the plant operates a baghouse to control emissions from the final product loading point. The daily throughput limits for each scenario are listed below.
- Truck Mix Without a Product Loading Baghouse – 500 yd3/day
- Truck Mix With a Product Loading Baghouse – 2,000 yd3/day
- Central Mix Without a Product Loading Baghouse – 2,000 yd3/day
- Central Mix With a Product Loading Baghouse – 2,000 yd3/day
