Site Summary:

The KOFA Range is an active military munitions range on the Yuma Proving Ground that includes the Munitions Treatment Facility (MTF), an area designated for demilitarization and treatment of unused munitions. The MTF is permitted to treat hazardous waste and routinely treats unused munitions by open burning (OB) and open detonation (OD). Currently, the MTF has two active OB units and five OD units. Four former treatment units located at the MTF called the “Inactive Treatment Units” have recently been closed. As part of corrective actions, YPG is also investigating six areas identified as potential solid waste landfills. These landfills are being closed with RCRA Subtitle D covers.

This hazardous waste site is also listed as a Federal Department of Defense (DOD) Site on My Community | View Federal Department of Defense (DOD) Sites Page >
