On June 14, 2024, the comment period begins for the proposal to issue an Arizona Pollution Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) renewal permit to Salt River Project Agricultural Improvement and Power District (SRP) for the Santan Generating Station located in Maricopa County, Arizona. The comment period ends July 14, 2024.

SRP operates the Santan Generating Station, a steam power electric generating plant in Gilbert, Arizona. SRP applied for a renewal AZPDES permit for the discharge of cooling tower blowdown, heat recovery steam generator blowdown, other low volume wastes, stormwater, and non-process raw water from the facility to the Western Canal (a Phoenix Area Canal) or to an Arizona Department of Transportation stormwater drainage system and eventual tributary to the Salt River in Maricopa County.
