The Arizona Department of Corrections applied for a renewal AZPDES permit for the proposed discharge of up to 0.925 million gallons per day of treated domestic wastewater from the facility to the Gila River in Pinal County, Arizona. The wastewater treatment plant is a publicly owned treatment works that receives domestic wastewater from residential sources in Florence. Sludge is stabilized in primary and secondary digesters and dried in drying beds before landfill disposal.
