On June 6, 2024, the comment period begins for the proposal to issue an Arizona Pollution Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) renewal permit to Apache Junction Sewer District for its water reclamation facility located in Pinal County, Arizona. The comment period ends July 5, 2024.

Apache Junction Sewer District applied for a renewal permit for the proposed discharge of up to 6.5 million gallons per day (mgd) of treated domestic wastewater from its water reclamation facility to an unnamed wash, tributary to Siphon Draw, in Pinal County. The facility is a publicly owned treatment works that receives domestic wastewater from residential and commercial sources in Apache Junction. Sludge is stabilized in anaerobic sludge lagoons, dried in sludge drying beds, and then disposed of in the municipal solid waste landfill.
