On May 30, 2025, the comment period begins for the proposal to issue an Arizona Pollution Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) renewal permit to Freeport-McMoRan Bagdad, Inc. for the Bagdad Mine located in Yavapai County, Arizona. The comment period ends June 30, 2025.

Freeport-McMoRan Bagdad, Inc. applied for a renewal AZPDES permit for the proposed discharge of stormwater mixed with tailing reclaim water, mine process water, and mine drainage from the Bagdad Mine. The facility is a copper and molybdenum mine. Discharges are only expected to occur during extreme and/or compounding storm events. Discharges will be to Mulholland Wash (tributary to Boulder Creek) and Mammoth Wash (tributary to Burro Creek) in Yavapai County.
