On Nov. 2, 2023, the comment period begins for the proposed Article 15: Forest and Range Management Burns State Implementation Plan (SIP) revision. The comment period ends Dec. 7, 2023.
The Article 15: Forest and Range Management Burns SIP regulates the process by which federal and state land managers request ADEQ approval to conduct prescribed burns. Improving and modernizing the forest and range management burn rules will aid in reducing the major threat of wildfires in Arizona. In addition to improving the rule, ADEQ will be fulfilling its five-year rule review promise to the Governor’s Regulatory Review Council to make improvements to outdated rules. The Article 15: Forest and Range Management Burns SIP revision will be submitted to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for incorporation in Arizona’s SIP as required under the Clean Air Act.
