2025 Arizona Regional Haze Progress Report

Revised On: Nov. 4th, 2024 - 09:44 am

On Nov. 5, 2024, the comment period begins for the Arizona Regional Haze State Implementation Plan (SIP) 5-Year Progress Report for 2025. The comment period ends Dec. 5, 2024.

Background:

The Regional Haze Rule includes two specific requirements for comprehensive periodic plan revisions and progress reviews.1 The first provision requires states to submit a comprehensive revision every 10 years.2 The second provision requires that each state provides the EPA Administrator with a report every five years evaluating the effectiveness of the state’s current regional haze strategy to determine if improvement or change is necessary, thereby ensuring continued progress toward visibility improvement in the Class I areas.3

Arizona submitted its 2018 – 2028 SIP revision on Aug. 15, 2022, to satisfy the requirements of the first provision.2 That SIP revision and regional haze plan information is not included in this progress report | View Documents >

Instead, this report satisfies the submittal requirements3 and contains all the information necessary to evaluate the current progress in meeting Arizona’s Reasonable Progress Goals in each mandatory Class I area.
