2024 Arizona Air Monitoring Network Plan

Posted on: May 22, 2024 - 7:00 a.m.

On May 22, 2024, the comment period begins for the annual State of Arizona Air Monitoring Network Plan prior to its submission to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The comment period ends June 21, 2024.

Background Information:

The plan presents the current status and future changes to the ambient air monitoring network.

Air quality surveillance systems consist of networks of monitors located at carefully selected places. We do reviews and planning each year to improve the monitoring networks and ensure that they provide adequate, representative and regulation-compliant air quality data. The results of the annual network review and planning are used to determine:

  • How well the networks are achieving their required air monitoring objectives
  • How well they meet data users’ needs
  • How they should be modified to continue meeting their objectives and data needs

Modifications can include the termination of existing stations, relocation of stations, establishment of new stations, monitoring of additional parameters, and/or changes to the sampling schedule.
