Background

ADEQ is in the process of revising its current capacity development strategy. The strategy is intended to ensure public water systems have adequate technical, managerial and financial capacity to provide healthy drinking water to their customers.

Over the past few months, we heard from our stakeholders (public water system owners, operators, other agencies) about the challenges public water systems in Arizona face, including, but not limited to:

  • insufficient rates
  • difficulty navigating the funding process
  • keeping track of regulatory requirements
  • the lack of sufficient technical training for operators

Our next virtual session will go over the improvements suggested by stakeholders.
