PUBLIC NOTICE | Determination of No Further Action for UPRR – Bowie Bunker Sumps & Structures VRP Site
ADEQ has received a request for a Conditional No Further Action (CNFA) determination for the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Bowie Bunker Sumps & Structures Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP) site located in Bowie, Ariz. The CNFA requests closure for soil by using an institutional control Declaration of Environmental Use Restriction and was submitted in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes § 49-181.
A determination of NFA means that ADEQ will not proceed with or require further remedial action at the site for the specific hazardous substances covered by the request, except in limited circumstances described in Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS) §49-287.01(G).
Site Information
The UPRR Bowie Bunker Sumps & Structures VRP site consists of a former UPRR fueling facility and equipment staging area. The institutional control will restrict the property to non-residential use.
Contaminants of concern at the site: chemical constituents of bunker C oil, including volatile organic compounds, and polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons.
