PUBLIC NOTICE | Air Quality Permit Renewal | BHP Copper Inc. – Miami Unit

On Aug. 26, 2026, a new comment period begins for the proposal to renew an air quality control permit to BHP Copper Inc. for the continued operation of the BHP Miami Unit located in Gila County, Arizona. The comment period ends Sept. 25, 2026.

The facility is subject to the requirements of federal and state clean air regulations. The facility includes four simple cycle combustion turbines and emits the following air contaminants: coarse particulate matter with diameters 10 micrometers or less (PM10), fine particulate matter with diameters 2.5 micrometers or less (PM2.5), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), nitrogen oxides (NOX), sulfur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (CO) and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4) mist.
