On June 9, 2026, the comment period begins for the proposal to renew an Arizona Pollution Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) permit to the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) for the Central Tucson PFAS Project (CTPP) Demonstration Facility located in Pima County, Arizona. The comment period ends July 9, 2026.

ADEQ applied for the renewal of an AZPDES permit for the proposed discharge of treated groundwater from the CTPP Demonstration Facility to the Santa Cruz River in Pima County, Arizona. The facility is a groundwater remediation facility in Tucson, Arizona. ADEQ is conducting the CTPP Pilot Test at a former Tucson Water production well site (C-007A) to demonstrate long-term performance of ion exchange treatment for the removal of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from impacted groundwater.
