Action taken

During groundwater sampling in 2015, PCE and TCE were detected in private wells on properties near the intersection. PCE was detected at concentrations ranging from 47 to 59 parts per billion (ppb) in private wells used to supply drinking water and irrigation. The Arizona Aquifer Water Quality Standard (AWQS) for PCE and TCE is 5.0 ppb. TCE has not been detected above the AWQS. ADEQ has worked with affected wells owners to ensure access to safe drinking water. ADEQ has completed a Remedial Investigation (RI), Feasibility Study (FS), Proposed Remedial Action Plan (PRAP) and Record of Decisions (ROD) for the site.

Status

The Record of Decision (ROD) was signed and a public notice of publication was issued in February 2021. The site is currently undergoing remediation by Monitored Natural Attenuation, along with wellhead treatment for affected water systems.
