Background:

This discussion is to inform individual APP permit holders about and help clarify the new or adjusted Aquifer Water Quality Standards (AWQS) and the implementation rule. Seven new or adjusted AWQS and an implementation rule will take effect on Aug. 4, 2025. In most cases, individual APP permit holders are required to conduct Baseline Monitoring within three months of the effective date of the implementation rule. The seven parameters with new or adjusted AWQS include: arsenic, bromate, chlorite, microbiological contaminants, haloacetic acids, total trihalomethanes, and uranium.
