  • Approximately 6,000 tons of CRT glass were shipped to Dow Management Company in Yuma for recycling. The CRT glass was not recycled and was instead stored at three facilities.
  • There is no offsite soil or groundwater plume at this time.

Corrective Action:

  • 3,000 tons of CRT glass was rerouted to California recyclers pursuant to California's emergency regulations and ADEQ’s insistence.
  • Dow Management has abandoned the remaining CRT glass.
  • In February 2018 a meetings was held with ADEQ and facility owners representative to start developing an action plan to address the removal and proper disposal of the remaining CRT glass.
  • ADEQ met with representatives of the Yuma facility and held discussions on the funding needed to remove and dispose of the CRT glass.
  • ADEQ inspected the three Yuma facilities at which Dow Management abandoned CRT glass and intact CRTs (CRT Waste), namely, Yuma Community Food Bank (YCFB), DC Logistics, and Lakin Enterprises. Notably, CRT Waste is still being stored at the YCFB and DC. Logistics facilities. Funding for removal and disposal is still being sought. Lakin Enterprises removed and transported all CRT Waste at the facility, approximately one million pounds, to a facility in Mexico for recycling.
  • ADEQ issued an NOV to Ream Holdings, LLC, the owner of DC Logistics, seeking proper removal and disposal of the CRT glass.
  • ADEQ and Ream Holdings, LLC (Ream Holdings) entered a Consent Order on April 21, 2021, that requires the company to remove the cathode ray tubes and glass and dispose of them at a permitted facility. Ream Holdings is thereafter required to decontaminate the warehouse and submit a closure certificate to ADEQ.
