Webinar Details

Setting rates is an important planning activity for water systems. Adequate funding, efficiency, conservation and equity are all important goals to consider when adopting a rate structure. Water rate structures provide revenue and can be tailored to meet the needs of a system. Water rates should align with long-term planning goals for capital investments, operations, maintenance and future growth. As population and water use habits change over time, rate structures should be updated regularly.

This online training will describe the process of setting rates and how rate setting can fit into long-term financial planning and asset management. Attendees will understand basic types of rate structures, learn what data is necessary to develop a proposed rate structure for adoption, and learn how to align rates and revenue with long-term fiscal needs for capital planning and operations.
