Tetrachloroethene (PCE) and trichloroethene (TCE)
Action Taken
ADEQ conducted an early response action (ERA) that consisted of the installation of a soil vapor extraction (SVE)/air sparge (AS) system to remediate the source of PCE in the soil and groundwater. The system was started in December 2004 and shut down in June 2005. In 2014, additional groundwater monitor wells were installed. The remedial investigation (RI) report was completed in April 2015 and the feasibility study (FS) report was issued in June 2017.
Groundwater sampling in April and May 2017, confirmed PCE and trichloroethene (TCE) are not detected above the aquifer water quality standard (AWQS) of 5 micrograms per liter (µg/l) in any of the groundwater monitoring wells sampled at the site. Historical groundwater monitoring data suggests that monitored natural attenuation (MNA) and a one-time in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) injection at one monitor well achieved cleanup of the site to concentrations below AWQSs.
ADEQ has reviewed the remedy and determined that site completion criteria has been met and that cleanup levels have been achieved.
Status
On May 29, 2017, ADEQ removed this site from the WQARF Registry, as regulatory cleanup levels have been achieved and no further action is required.
