Daniel Czecholinski was appointed as ADEQ’s Air Quality Division Director in October 2019, after serving as Acting Director and Deputy Director since June 2018. His role as Director involves protecting public health and the environment by helping control present and future air pollution sources. In this position, he oversees Arizona air quality programs: the ambient monitoring network, pollution forecasting, compliance and enforcement, permitting, vehicle emissions inspections, and developing state implementation plans and rules.
Czecholinski has been with ADEQ since November 2006, holding several positions in the Water Quality Division, including the Drinking Water Value Stream Manager, where he was responsible for implementing and enforcing the federal Safe Drinking Water Act through various ADEQ programs. Before joining ADEQ, Czecholinski had a 15-year career with Clean Harbors and Laidlaw Environmental Services Facilities in Arizona, New Mexico, California and Washington.
Czecholinski received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1988 and his Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) from the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management in 2001.
