PUBLIC NOTICE | 7th Street and Missouri Avenue WQARF PRAP Available

ADEQ has completed the Proposed Remedial Action Plan (PRAP) for the 7th Street and Missouri Avenue Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF) site in Phoenix, Arizona. The PRAP documents the results of the remedial investigation/feasibility study (RI/FS) and identifies the proposed remedy and its estimated costs.

Information

The 7th Street and Missouri Avenue WQARF site consists of a plume of contaminated groundwater located in Phoenix. The plume is bounded approximately by East Bethany Home Road to the north, East Georgia Avenue to the south, North 12th Street to the east, and North 6th Street to the west. Contaminants of concern at the site are tetrachloroethene, trichloroethene, 1,2-dichloroethene, and benzene.

The proposed remedy for the site is as follows: soil vapor extraction for the soils to remove PCE present above the Soil Remediation Levels; in situ chemical oxidation via ozone sparging for the source area and near source area groundwater where the contaminants of concern are present over Aquifer Water Quality Standards; monitored natural attenuation for the diffuse tetrachloroethene  groundwater plume; contingencies include additions to the soil vapor extraction system, additional ozone sparge systems, additional years of monitoring, and wellhead treatment for nearby production wells that will be implemented when a well being used for a potable water source is found to have site contaminants above standards at the point of compliance. The estimated cost to implement this remedy is approximately $8,254,000 for a period of six years.
