Contaminants of concern: Tetrachloroethene (PCE), trichloroethene (TCE), 1,1-dichloroethene (1,1-DCE) and cyanide

Action taken: In 2002, ADEQ conducted a soil removal action and cleaned out sumps and septic tanks at an active facility as part of an early response action (ERA). A soil vapor investigation was initiated in 2008, and vapor monitoring is ongoing.

In February 2013, three additional monitor wells were installed to complete the definition of the site’s groundwater plume downgradient. Groundwater monitoring activities are ongoing, and no drinking water wells have been impacted.

In February 2014, ADEQ completed the installation of a permanent asphalt-based engineered cap. The cap was placed over the cyanide-impacted soils still remaining at a depth below 1 foot at the site.

Status: The remedial investigation (RI), remedial objectives (RO), feasibility study (FS) reports, proposed remedial action plan (PRAP) and record of decision (ROD) have been completed. The remedy is monitoring and maintenance of the engineered asphaltic concrete cap and in-situ enhanced reductive dechlorination (ERD) with monitored natural attenuation (MNA).
