West Central Phoenix North Plume

Registry placement date: April 15, 1998

Score: 50

County: Maricopa

Location: Phoenix, approximately bounded by Highland Avenue on the north, Grand Avenue on the northeast, Indian School Road on the south, 37th Avenue on the east and 43rd Avenue on the west

Contaminants of concern: Tetrachloroethene (PCE), trichloroethene (TCE) and  1,1-dichloroethene (1,1-DCE)

Action taken: Two early response action (ERA) soil vapor extraction (SVE) remedial projects at two different facilities within the site have significantly reduced the contamination by extracting vapors from contaminated soil. The ERA at the F&B Manufacturing Inc. facility (F&B) was augmented with in-situ enhanced reductive de-chlorination (ERD) injections at the release area.

Status: The remedial investigation (RI) report, remedial objectives (RO) report, the feasibility study (FS) work plan and the FS report have been completed. The Proposed Remedial Action Plan (PRAP) was completed in June 2017 and subsequently issued for public review and comment. The proposed remedy for the site is operation of the F&B SVE system, well installations, ERD injections, and monitored natural attenuation (MNA).

Community Advisory Board (CAB): Established and meets on a regular basis
