Pursuant to the Clean Water Act and in accordance with Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R18-9-A907, the Director of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) proposes to issue an Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) Permit to discharge pollutants to Waters of the United States to the following applicant, subject to certain effluent limitations and special conditions:

Tucson Water Department applied for an AZPDES permit for the proposed discharge of up to 3.57 million gallons per day (mgd) of treated reclaimed water to the Santa Cruz River in the Santa Cruz River Basin in Township 14S, Range 13E, Section 23, in Pima County, Ariz.
The Santa Cruz River Heritage Project is an important planned reclaimed water recharge facility near downtown Tucson that will allow Tucson Water to develop additional recharge capacity for the long-term storage of reclaimed water for future use while enhancing the downtown area with a perennial water feature.
