On Thursday, June 14, 2018, the public comment period began for the proposed renewal of Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) permit (AZ0024554) coverage to the City of Phoenix – Parks and Recreation Department for the proposed discharge of up to approximately 3.62 million gallons per day (mgd) of groundwater from five supply wells to provide a river ecosystem to achieve a sustainable balance of flora and fauna at the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area.
