Notice: Pursuant to the Clean Water Act and in accordance with Arizona Administrative Code (AAC) R18-9-A907, the Director of ADEQ proposes to issue an Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) Permit to discharge pollutants to U.S. waters to the following applicant, subject to certain effluent limitations and special conditions:

Information
The Town of Quartzsite applied for a renewal AZPDES permit for the proposed discharge of up to 0.9 million gallons per day (mgd) of treated domestic wastewater from the Town of Quartzsite Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to the Tyson Wash in the Colorado / Lower Gila River Basin in Township 4 N, Range 19 W, Section 9, in La Paz County, Arizona. The Town of Quartzsite WWTP is a publicly owned treatment works that receives domestic wastewater from residential and commercial sources in the Town of Quartzsite. Sludge is sent to a local landfill for disposal.

Public Comment Period
Dates: June 7, 2017 – July 7, 2017
All written comments received by ADEQ by the close of business 30 days after publication of this notice will be considered in the final permit decision. A public hearing request must be in writing and must include the reasons for such request. If there is a significant degree of public interest, the Director will hold a hearing in accordance with Arizona Administrative Code R18-9-A908(B).
