In addition to criteria pollutant plans under Arizona’s State Implementation Plan (SIP), ADEQ also develops other plans required by the Clean Air Act (CAA). These plans cover a wide range of topics and can be spurred by special circumstances such as when EPA addressed a national issue like climate change with the promulgation of the Clean Power Plan.
Some examples of these additional plans are SIP calls under CAA section 110(k)(5), revisions of emission guidelines under CAA section 111(d), or revisions to EPA regulations such as the 2016 Exceptional Events Rule revision. These plans are always being improved upon as air quality standards and Arizona’s environment changes.
