Forecast Discussion:
Stagnant conditions will resume as yesterday's upper level shortwave exits the region, though particulate levels are expected to recover slowly as local activity remains relatively low due to the holiday season.
Not a lot of change is forecast for West Pinal over the next 5 days, with PM10 trends lowering over the weekend slightly. Afterwards, we look towards New Year's as the next potential for worsened air quality in more populated areas. Currently, we are forecasting a storm system to sweep across the state right at midnight of the new year. Though no rain is expected, the increased winds overnight will help to disperse residual PM2.5 in many areas. Fireworks become a major issue on this holiday, especially during times of stagnant conditions.
We will continue to monitor this potential storm system as we approach the New Year's holiday.
