PUBLIC NOTICE | Request for No Further Action Determination for the McMullen Former Manganese Ore Site City of Phoenix Parcel NO. 308-06-005C VRP Site

The City of Phoenix has submitted a request for a No Further Action (NFA) determination to the ADEQ Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP) for the McMullen Former Manganese Ore Site City of Phoenix Parcel NO. 308-06-005C. The NFA requests closure for soil and was submitted in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes § 49-181.

The McMullen Former Manganese Ore Site VRP site consists of an approximately 40.4-acre area of vacant land that was formerly used for manganese ore processing, located northeast of Santa Fe Avenue and 5th Street in Wenden, La Paz County, Ariz. Contaminants of concern at the site are metals arsenic, lead, manganese and thallium in soils.

PUBLIC NOTICE | Request for No Further Action Determination for SFPP Silvercroft Wash Release VRP Site

Kinder Morgan Inc. has submitted a request for a No Further Action (NFA) determination to the ADEQ Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP) for soil on property located on portions of Lots 352 and 353; a portion of the Silver Creek Association easement between Silvercroft Wash and the residences to the east; a portion of the drainage swale between Lots 352 and 353; and a portion of Silvercroft Wash in Tucson, Ariz., in an area known as the SFFP, L.P. Silvercroft Wash Release VRP Site. Contaminants of concern at the site are benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes (collectively referred to as BTEX) and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE). The NFA requests closure for soil and was submitted pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute (ARS) §49-181.

PUBLIC NOTICE | Request for No Further Action Determination for Silverlake Distribution Warehouse VRP Site

Scannell Properties (dba SPA Properties Tucson LLC) is requesting a No Further Action (NFA) determination from ADEQ for the Silverlake Distribution Warehouse Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP) site (Site Code 513208-00) in Tucson, Ariz. The NFA was submitted in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes § 49-181 and requests closure for soil and is limited to 15 different media-specific areas located within the site boundaries where soil remediation and/or sampling was performed. Media included in the NFA request includes RCRA 8 Metals and select polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).

The site is comprised of the following three non-contiguous areas:

  • The North Section: 819 West Silverlake Road, comprised of five parcels (APNs 118-11-015G, 118-11-008A, 118-11-007B, 118-11-015N, and 118-11-006C) and covering approximately 6.3-acres
  • The South Section: 780 West El Puente Lane, comprised of two parcels (APN 118-11-015M and 118-11-016B) and covering approximately 1.5-acres
  • The Southeast Section: No associated address, comprised of one parcel (APN 118-11-015L) and covering approximately 1.5-acres

A soil investigation conducted in October 2018 revealed elevated concentrations of metals (i.e., arsenic, cadmium, and lead) and select polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Soil remediation of impacted soils was performed in November and December 2018 and 2,259.99 tons of impacted soils were removed from the site.

PUBLIC NOTICE | Request for No Further Action Determination for Former Kiowa Ponds VRP Site

Lake Havasu City has submitted a request for a No Further Action (NFA) determination to the ADEQ Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP) for the Former Kiowa Ponds VRP site (Site Code 512957-00). The NFA requests closure for soil and was submitted in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes § 49-181.

The Former Kiowa Ponds VRP site consists of vacant land located in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. Contaminants of concern at the site are organic compounds, metals and nitrate in soil. An investigation conducted in 2000 demonstrated that semi-volatile organic compounds and metals are not present in site soil at concentrations that exceed regulatory criteria. The ADEQ Aquifer Protection Permit Program granted closure of the site in 2005. A comprehensive site investigation in 2018 demonstrated that volatile organic compounds, total chromium, hexavalent chromium and nitrate are not present in site soil at concentrations that exceed regulatory criteria.
