What Are My Health Risks?

For Soil | There is little to no health risk unless there is contact with skin or ingestion of contaminated soil

Site Summary:

  • Soil investigation has been conducted on the site
  • Some affected soils were removed in 2014
  • United States Postal Service (USPS) submitted a proposed Site Conceptual Engineering Design (February 2018), which proposes using a Declaration of Environmental Use Restriction (DEUR) with an engineered cap to prevent exposure to affected soil
  • ADEQ conceptually agreed with the proposal to utilize a DEUR – February 2018
  • USPS is currently (March 2018) evaluating the costs of their proposal
  • USPS submitted a Work Plan in December 2018 and is currently under ADEQ review
  • In January 2019, ADEQ provided comments on the Work Plan
  • In June 2019, ADEQ approved the Limited Site Characterization Work Plan and USPS will be conducting sampling on the property in July
  • In November, the USPS submitted a limited Phase II Report, which is currently under ADEQ review
  • In December 2019, ADEQ approved the Limited Phase II Report
  • June 2020, Remedial Action work Plan was submitted by USPS and conditionally approved by ADEQ
  • A new Remedial Action Report will be submitted in the first quarter of 2022
