PUBLIC NOTICE | Proposed Termination of CAP for USTs at Former Thriftway Plateau #117 in Show Low
ADEQ is proposing the termination of a Corrective Action Plan (CAP), dated June 24, 2005.1 The CAP contained a proposal to demonstrate that corrective actions for underground storage tanks (USTs) at the former Thriftway Plateau #117 in Show Low, Ariz., would be protective of public health, welfare and the environment. The CAP recommended remediation of the contamination using dual-phase extraction (DPE) for up to two years and monitoring natural attenuation thereafter to obtain leaking UST case file closure. According to the leaking UST case file, DPE was conducted on the site from March 2008 through May 2010. Because concentrations of petroleum constituents of concern were not significantly reduced as a result of the DPE, and natural attenuation has not been demonstrated, ADEQ has decided to terminate the CAP.
