PUBLIC NOTICE | Proposed AZPDES Renewal Permit for Town of Marana

Notice: Pursuant to the Clean Water Act and in accordance with Arizona Administrative Code (AAC) R18-9-A907, the Director of ADEQ proposes to issue an Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) Permit to discharge pollutants to U.S. waters to the following applicant, subject to certain effluent limitations and special conditions:

Information

The town of Marana applied for a renewal AZPDES permit for the proposed discharge of up to 3.5 million gallons per day (mgd) of treated domestic wastewater from the Marana Wastewater Reclamation Facility (WRF) to an unnamed tributary to the Santa Cruz River in the Santa Cruz River Basin in Township 11 S, Range 10 E, Section 14, in Pima County, Ariz. The Marana WRF is a publicly owned treatment works that receives domestic wastewater from residential and commercial sources in Marana, Ariz. Sludge is stored in an above-ground, aerated holding tank until hauled off-site to the Casa Grande WWTP (current), and the Marana Regional Landfill in the future.

Public Comment Period 

Dates: Dec. 7, 2016 – Jan. 6, 2016

All written comments received by ADEQ by the close of business 30 days after publication of this notice will be considered in the final permit decision. A public hearing request must be in writing and must include the reasons for such request. If there is a significant degree of public interest, the Director will hold a hearing in accordance with Arizona Administrative Code R18-9-A908(B).
