Underground Injection Control (UIC)

Safe Drinking Water Act - Underground Injection Control Program

The UIC Program regulates the underground injection or discharge of six classes of hazardous and non-hazardous liquid and gas. The Arizona UIC program rules became effective in the Arizona Administrative Code on Sept. 7, 2022. Please note that the program will not have primary enforcement authority until EPA approves ADEQ's primacy application, which is projected for late 2023; see A.A.C. R18-9-A602(A).
