PHOENIX (Oct. 26, 2011) - Arizona Department of Environmental Quality
officials announced today that a free electronics waste recycling event
for residents of Bullhead City and the surrounding area will be held on
Saturday, Nov. 12 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the public works yard,
1285 Alona's Way.

ADEQ and its partners -- the City of Bullhead City, Mohave Community
College and the college's computer club, Mohave Shred and Westech
Recyclers of Phoenix -- anticipate collecting tons of unwanted
televisions, computer equipment, monitors, batteries, chargers, cell
phones, VCRs, CD and DVD players, printers, small appliances, fax
machines, stereos, cables and cords at the event.

In addition, paper shredding will be provided at the event for $3 for
each box or bag.

"We are excited about having our second free electronics waste
collection event in Bullhead City and also being able to offer paper
shredding this time," ADEQ Director Henry Darwin said. "This is a great
opportunity for people to dispose of all the unwanted electronics they
have collected while at the same time ensuring that this potentially
toxic stream of waste is disposed of responsibly and does not take up
valuable landfill space."

Bullhead City Manager Toby Cotter also said he is eagerly anticipating
the event.

"Bullhead City is grateful for the opportunity from ADEQ to host this
'green' event with the agency and our other partners," Cotter said. "We
expect the scope of this to be even larger than our event last spring
and allow residents of our area to help protect the environment by
recycling their old or unwanted electronic items."

Companies and individuals donating e-waste will receive a certificate of
disposal for their records from Westech Recyclers if they want the
document. Westech Recyclers will erase all hard drives with state of the
art software and the company recycles all materials in accordance with
state and federal regulations.

ADEQ has sponsored 46 events since August 2009 throughout the state and
collected 1,229,161 pounds of e-waste from more than 8,000 vehicles
attending the events.
