Health message for Friday March 05: Unusually sensitive people should
consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion.

Synopsis and Discussion
Following the passage of a dry upper level trough today, a weak ridge
will become established over the Valley on Friday. It still appears
that by late this afternoon upstream winds in the 5-10K' layer will be
capable of delivering additional ozone and/or its precursors from CA
over the local forecast area. If so, hourly ozone concentrations may
actually increase into the evening hours resulting in a minor jump in
local ozone levels that could linger into Friday under mostly sunny
skies. Mostly light winds and warming aloft on Friday will be conducive
to less than favorable dispersion, and fine particle (PM-2.5) levels may
reach the low-moderate range of the Air Quality Index. Winds will be on
the increase again Saturday and Sunday with the approach and arrival of
a much stronger trough and surface cold frontal passage that will likely
bring additional precipitation to the metro area by Sunday. -Reith
